Raconta is a voice-first app for preserving family recipes in the cook's own voice. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. If you have questions, contact us at hello@raconta.app.
Raconta is operated by Filmantropo Productions, LLC ("we," "us," or "our").
Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Voice recordings — audio files you record within the app, or import from your device.
- Recipe content — the structured recipes (titles, ingredients, steps) generated from your recordings.
- Photos — images you choose to attach to a recipe from your photo library or camera.
- Scanned recipe card images — photographs of handwritten or printed recipe cards that you scan using Scan Mode to extract recipe text.
- Account information — an anonymous account is created automatically when you first use the app. If you choose to register, we store your email address.
We do not collect your name, location, contacts, or any other personal information unless you explicitly provide it.
How We Use Your Information
- To transcribe your voice recordings into structured recipes using OpenAI Whisper.
- To parse and organize recipe content using Anthropic's Claude API.
- To extract recipe text from photographed recipe cards using Anthropic's Claude Vision API (Scan Mode).
- To store your recipes and audio securely so you can access them across sessions.
- To generate shareable recipe cards and links when you choose to share a recipe.
- To process in-app purchases through Apple's StoreKit.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes.
Third-Party Services
Raconta uses the following third-party services to operate:
- OpenAI (Whisper) — audio transcription. Your recordings are sent to OpenAI for transcription and are subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (Claude) — recipe parsing, structuring, and Scan Mode OCR. Transcribed text and scanned recipe card images are sent to Anthropic for processing and are subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — secure cloud storage for your recipes and audio files. Data is stored in encrypted form and is subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Apple StoreKit — in-app purchase processing. We do not receive or store your payment information.
Data Storage and Security
Your recipes and voice recordings are stored in a private cloud database (Supabase). Audio files in your library are stored securely and are accessible only to you. When you share a recipe, a secure link is generated that allows the recipient to hear the recording — you control what you share.
We retain your data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete a recipe, it is removed from our servers. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, contact us at hello@raconta.app.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting the app or contacting us.

Children's Privacy
Raconta is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not include social features, advertising, or content sharing to public audiences.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
